I find this very interesting.
I’ve reblogged this before, but I still find it strangely disconcerting—the notion that these people have suddenly become defined by the last meal they ever ate. These things they are convicted for, which are undoubtedly terrible and disturbing and unjust, seem to almost fade in a sense because these photographs indicate to me a sort of humanness—the fact that these people eat, and have favourite things. I don’t know. I’ve never been comfortable with the idea of capital punishment and looking at this makes me upset for some reason, I can’t really explain it.
